About The Event
The European Pairs Rapid Chess Championship was a highlighted sport during the Krakow – Małopolska 2023 European Games, marking the largest multi-sport event in Europe for the year 2023. It showcased strategic brilliance and fostered cultural exchange and sportsmanship among diverse nations.
Held on June 19, 2023, at the Krakow Opera, this prestigious chess tournament featured eight leading chess federations, including Poland, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, France, Romania, Germany, Armenia, and the Netherlands. Each team consisted of a male player (with a rating over 2650) and a female player (with a rating over 2350).
The Challenge
Our goal was to preserve the visual identity developed for the European Games while simultaneously distinguishing the European Pairs Rapid Chess Championship from other disciplines held as part of the event.
The visual key of the games consists of 5 layers.
The Solution
Preparing the key visual for the chess tournament, we incorporated elements of the European Games' identity, combined with the image of the best Polish chess player and event ambassador, Grandmaster Jan-Krzysztof Duda.
In collaboration with the developers of our product - the chess training and learning platform ChessGrow, we orchestrated a surprise for the chess enthusiasts gathered at the Opera. They had the opportunity to participate in a game involving solving chess puzzles. Judging by the reactions, the participants enjoyed it immensely and had a great time.
