ABC Chess Book
igniting the passion for chess
About Chess Grow
The online platform for mastering chess Our sister company builds and operates chessgrow.com, a platform that supports chess training and collaboration between students, trainers and caretakers.
It delivers tailored digital training materials; helps fine-tune learning pace and content, and enables interaction with established educators. The result is rapid skill development of players at all levels of ability.
The Challenge
Young chess learners begin their adventure with paper-based board exercises, distributed during lessons or as illustrated exercise books Chess Grow is known for.
Exercises themselves don’t keep the young players focused for long. It is the interaction and feedback from the trainers that keep them practicing.
During lockdowns, delivering this interaction became difficult. We needed another way to make exercises captivating on their own.
We took our acclaimed chess exercise book for children and made it interactive.
We recreated exercises as mini-games that teach chess moves and gameplay. We integrated a chess algorithm that the kids can practice against without leaving the book. We also added change-of-pace activities, such as coloring, to keep the experience varied.
The interactive tasks debuted on our Chess Grow platform, where we tested and fine-tuned them with kids and parents. In the end, they were so well received that they deserved to be released as a standalone product.
The result is ABC Chess Grow, the captivating and intuitive chess playground for kids age 4 and above.

When I first taught my children chess, it was a bit challenging to convey all the rules and basic conceptions. I wish I had the ABC Book then! Still, I find it very useful to strenghten their knowledge.
